2022 Awards Show FAQs

  • How do I receive more information and updates about the San Diego Music Awards?

Join our email list and you will be the first to receive updates about ticket sales, event info, and special announcements.

  • Can anyone attend?

The San Diego Music Awards are an all-ages event that anyone with a purchased ticket may attend. However for alcohol purchase, all attendees are required to bring an up-to-date, Government-issued photo ID with date of birth to purchase!

  • What ticket types are there at this event?

There are 200 reserved up front table seats available. All other tickets are in general admission seating or standing areas.

  • May I transfer or upgrade my ticket to another person?

The ticket agency has a strict No Refund policy (all sales are final). You can however sell/transfer tickets to someone else. If you would like to transfer your ticket(s) to someone else, or change the name on your ticket(s), please log into your Eventbrite ticket account.

  • What is the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable, but are transferable (or you can change the name on a ticket) by logging into your Eventbrite account.

  • What if one of the entertainers cancels?

This is an awards show first and foremost – not a concert with specific performers. And while the SDMA performers are booked, advertised and plan to perform, at times, cancellations and replacement acts are required. There are no refunds for performer changes.

  • What is the dress code?

There is no formal dress code. Dress to impress!

  • What time do I get to enter into the event?

Doors to the venue will open at 6pm. The show starts at 7pm or shortly thereafter.

  • What Covid-19 restrictions, if any will there be at the event?

The health and safety to everyone involved is our number one priority.  The risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. At the present time, no restrictions apply to outdoor events in California. However, SDMA will require and follow all government suggested rules and regulations, as they apply on the date of this years event.

  • How does a band get nominated?

Nominees are always chosen in January by the San Diego Music Academy (members are noted on this website) and announced in Mid-February. Nominees are chosen based on the previous year (January thru December), including performers and recordings. Nominees must have ¾ of their members living in San Diego at the time of nominations. Former San Diegans are not eligible for annual SDMA consideration.
